Kingfisher is a cosy one-bedroom self-catering flat at 25 Krom Street in Struisbaai, a 600 m stroll from the beach and the shops. The bedroom has a double bed and the lounge has two singles, which makes it just right for a couple or a family of four. Days here have an easy rhythm. Wander down to the beach in the morning, potter around the shops on the way back, and by late afternoon you'll be lighting the braai outside while the day winds down. When the wind is up, the indoor braai keeps things cosy instead. The small private garden is the place for a book and a coffee, and when you've had enough sun there's uncapped Wi-Fi and a smart TV waiting for you with your DStv or Netflix login. Your car sits safely off the street, and linen and towels are all taken care of. If you can drag yourself off the beach, the harbour and its stingrays are five minutes away, or take a drive out to the lighthouse at Cape Agulhas and stand at the southernmost tip of Africa.
